Mynydd Graig Goch from Llyn Cwm

People reaching Garnedd-goch on their traverse of the Nantlle Ridge, one of the best
high level walks in Wales, must often have wondered whether the
summit beyond should be included, but the OS unequivocally recorded it as
609m. However as a result of the survey work carried out in August (see
Survey) the Ordnance Survey have now confirmed that Mynydd Graig Goch is
a two thousander. The news that the mountain is 2000ft and six inches in
height was released to the world's press today at Plas Tan y Bwlch, the
Snowdonia National Park Environmental Study Centre and to everyone's
astonishment, not least that of John Barnard and Graham Jackson, the surveyors,
the news was seized upon with glee by BBC television, ITV, the Guardian and
numerous radio programs. As the news recently has all been about large
sums of money being reduced overnight to small ones, finding something that was
bigger than everyone thought must have been a welcome relief!
