840 Great Rigg from Grasmere

Nab Scar, the first nail in the Fairfield Horseshoe, is usually gained from Rydal, but here's a delightful alternative. Alcock Tarn, with its shoals of tiny fish, highlights the approach then Heron Pike's twin tops and Great Rigg are visited before an easy descent over Stone Arthur.
