602 Alcock Tarn

How fit are you? William Heaton Cooper, the artist, used to take his guests on a walk up to Alcock Tarn as a test of their "mountain form". The winner of the Guides Race at Grasmere Sports makes it to the top of the cliffs above the tarn in just ten minutes. And the descent - he's back in Grasmere in less than three!
