597 Werneth Low Country Park

Two thousand years ago Werneth Low was the place to be, for this was where the Brigantes celebrated the summer and winter solstice. No view of Manchester then of course, but the "alder tree hill" is still surrounded by countryside, while in the woods a rustle in the undergrowth can sound remarkably like a wolf.
