447 Gisburn

"Mind your own business". No, we're not being rude, but this ancient inscription appears on Field House near Gisburn in the Ribble Valley. Here quiet paths lead across the fields until the approach to the river adds a frisson of excitement with a narrow path tiptoeing along the edge and a steep descent through delightful beech trees. It's then an easy stroll back to Gisburn, a quaint market town with an ancient church and stately 17th century buildings.
