250 Salford Quays

The Ship Canal transformed Manchester into a major port, but now Salford Quays is itself transformed. What was once a decaying dockyard is again busy, with magnificent office buildings, new housing, clean water for fishing, and a waterfront to be proud of. And the jewel in the crown is the Lowry Centre where, as well as two theatres, Salford's world-famous matchstick men have found a permanent home, in a gallery built specially for them.
